2 research-based programs

Thanks to research, Medela knows that babies naturally apply different sucking patterns to extract as much milk as possible when breastfeeding. This observation led to the creation of the Symphony breast pump's two unique expression programs.

INITIATE program.
Imitates the irregular stimulation rhythm of the newborn during the first days of breastfeeding.
MAINTAIN program.
Imitates the two-phase sucking action of a healthy infant once lactation is established (after the milk has come in): a fast rhythm at the start of each feed, to get the milk flowing (stimulation phase), then a slower, more regular rhythm once the milk has flowed (expression phase).

The INITIATE program is suitable for the first hours and days after giving birth; the MAINTAIN program then takes over as soon as you start producing milk.
