Rose geranium belongs to the group of scented pelargoniums and originates from the South African steppe.
In Europe too, scented pelargoniums have become very popular as aromatic adornments for balconies, terraces, and gardens.
They are “contact-scent” plants: fine glandular hairs on the leaves release fragrance when touched or stirred by the wind.
Rose geranium is used in natural cosmetics and as a raw material in perfumery.
